HIGHLIGHTS

DSCF0702

After a comprehensive selection process we are pleased to announce the appointment of Alanna, Joseph and Lauren as Head Students of the School.   They head up a Leadership Team of twelve students who will work across three committees: Community, Curriculum and Welfare.   We look forward to working with the whole team to help us and the Trustees of the School continue to develop the School in all aspects.

10 11

A team of five Year 9 Students represented the School at the regional Enterprise Challenge competition this week, they came second and have been offered a chance to visit a local business as a result of their social enterprise pitch. Well done Edward, Thomas, Jake, Gethin and Thomas all in 9A

REMOTE LEARNING

When we return after the Easter we will not be providing online TEAMS lessons for students who are not in school.  If a student is too unwell to come to school, they are too unwell to work at home.  If students are well enough to be in school, they should be in school.  There are no facilities to test so the guiding principal should be as above.

If there is a medical need for an extended period of time then we will work with the family and the medical services to provide access to online learning.

DRY ARCH ROAD

As many of you will know there is a railway bridge on Dry Arch Road which causes the road to narrow. We just want to remind students to be careful when passing under the bridge as some drivers do not anticipate the reduction on space, clearly poor driving but we don’t want our students to be a victim of a driver's lack of care and attention. It has also been reported that student do not look before stepping out into the road to pass under the bridge.   Can you please remind students to look carefully before they step out and to ensure that they have enough time to pass under the bridge before a car approaches.

ATTENDANCE

As you know the guidance around isolation has changed.  There is no longer a need to test if any individual is feeling poorly.  We are back to how we were pre-COVID in the respect that if an individual is too ill to come to school, then they should not come to school.  If they feel as though they can be in school, they should be in school.   If they have symptoms of any respiratory illness they should remain at home until they feel well enough to resume their normal activities or until they no longer have a high temperature.

It is important that we return to normal expectations around attendance.  As you know we are contacting families every two weeks with the attendance for that two-week block.  You will also receive notification at the end of each term of the year-to-date figure.

It is important that all parents and carers are kept up to date with the attendance of their child.  We appreciate that some of our young people have prolonged illnesses, please rest assured you will not be included in these emails.

SUMMER UNIFORM

After the Easter break students can wear the summer uniform. Please refer to the uniform page of the website.  As we move towards our new non gender specific uniform, girls can also wear polo shirts. If polo shirts are worn, they must be school branded and tucked in.  A blazer must be worn as well.

UNITY DAY - FRIDAY 29 APRIL

Untitled design (2)Our school motto is Unity Respect Excellence and we strive to embody these qualities in every aspect of school life.

As part of this we have plans to celebrate the school’s  birthday, 23 March, annually with a Unity Day.  It is intended that the day will bring together students and staff to celebrate the heritage of our school and show our Unity for one another, by raising funds for our Unity Fund.

On Friday 29 April we are encouraging our school community to wear a red, white or blue and donate £1 towards the fund. This fund is a discretionary source of financial assistance for our disadvantaged students and aims to support students whose families may be experiencing financial difficulties within our community.

Donations to the Unity Fund will be collected from students during registration on Friday 28 April and we thank you for your support.

As a reminder we are school environment so we please ask that students dress in a respectful manner and appreciate that we are a community of many different ages and faiths.  Students should not wear crop tops, short shorts, vest or any clothing that has offensive language or slogans on.

Students also need to remember all the equipment they would normally need for their school day.

PRIDE SOC

Our Pride Society has gone from strength to strength this term.  Have a look at this 'Allies' film - created by our staff and students - to see how this club is helping to make our school a safe and welcoming space for everyone.

YOUNG ENTERPRISE - TOTE-LLY U UPDATE

Our team of Sixth Form students, who formed a company called Tote-lly U as part of the Young Enterprise programme, making and selling eco-friendly and sustainably sourced bags, have created a questionnaire to gain feedback on their website and product.

Please view their website and spare a few minutes to complete this questionnaire which will give them valuable feedback. Thank you.

BRACKNELL SAMARITANS 5K | 10K | TEDDY BEAR KIDS' RUN

SamaritansThe annual Bracknell Samaritans Run has returned  – now in its 40th year!

The event takes place on Saturday 25 June 2022 at Easthampstead Park Community School, and if previous years are to go by – will once again be an extremely popular and fun running event for the local community.  It sold out in 2019, and are hoping to do so again this year.   Our special celebrity guest, Diane Youdale aka 'Jet' from the hit TV series, Gladiators, returns to support us again and other attractions include a bouncy castle, raffle, kids play area, BBQ and refreshments.

With a choice of a 10k, 5k and a Teddy Bear Run for the kids, it’s destined to be a great day for the whole family.  They would really love as many children, parents, carers and staff to take part.   The kids' race is led by our mascot, Teddy Bear Sam, and starts and finishes at the main race arch and runs around the grassed sports field in a c. 1K loop.   It's only £5 to enter and all participants will receive a special Teddy Bear themed medal and other goodies!

Please click here for further details or visit their website.
