HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK
The highlight has to be the GCSE Food practical. The smell coming from the Food Tech rooms was fantastic on all three days, and the skill on show, from fresh pasta making to filleting of Sea Bass, was impressive. Students were taking on some challenging dishes that required a high degree of precision, such as souffle and choux pastry. I must admit I nipped in and grabbed a profiterole or two to ensure that the teachers had graded correctly. There was also a lovely meringue. Well done to all, a really impressive array of dishes cooked well and delivered on time; Gregg Wallace would be impressed!
I was also pleased to present the Photography winners with certificates for their fantastic entries to the Rotary Club Young Photographer Competition. If you haven't seen them yet, click here to have a look.

SIXTH FORM OUTDOOR SEATING AREA
A new covered outdoor seating area is being built for the Sixth Form and is due to be finished over the half-term break. A very big thank you to Sunninghill & Ascot Parish Council and Sunningdale Parish Council who have provided the money.
CHECK OUT OUR SOCIAL MEDIA
Each week the Newsletter summarises our school’s activities, but you can keep up-to-date with the daily range of events and initiatives by following our social media channels.
DETACHED CAR PARK
The detached car park is for staff and Sixth Form students to park in. Any parental visitors should use the visitor bays at the front of the school. The detached car park is becoming too congested with parents ‘hovering’ to pick up their children. This, in turn, leads to congestion and lots of frustration for people who are parked.
Please do not arrange to pick up your son/daughter from the detached car park, as with last week's message, a short walk to another suitable pick-up point would make the whole situation in the area a lot easier for all.
NOTICE OF PARENT TRUSTEE ELECTION
The closing date for nominations for our Parent Trustee vacancies passed on the 27 January 2022. Five nominations have been received and the Board of Trustees is delighted by the response.
Unfortunately, there are only two vacancies available, so a secret ballot must now take place. The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will secure the role of Parent Trustee for a four-year term of office. In this election the Governing Board is looking for parents with experience in the legal field or in marketing and or communication or in events management or fundraising.
Parents and carers were emailed on 8 February with a voting link. Each parent or carer with a child attending Charters School is entitled to one vote regardless of the number of children they have in school.
Please vote using this SurveyMonkey link by 3.00 pm on 16 February 2022.
Each candidate has been asked to provide a statement of up to 300 words in support of their nomination. Please remember that you are voting for the person that you consider has the skills and experience to undertake the role successfully, it does not matter if you do not personally know the candidate whom you consider would have the right skill set for the role.
Emails were sent to all parents who had registered their email address with us. If for any reason you have not already been able to vote electronically please use the link above. If you would prefer a paper copy, please contact Alison Coates, PA to the Headteacher who can post one out to you.
Please address any queries to Laura Law, Clerk to the Trustees at l.law@chartersschool.org.uk

Tables will be set up under the canopies outside M6 for students to have a look. If this could apply to your family, please remind your child(ren). The accumulated value of the unnamed lost property continues to astonish us.
