NEWSLETTER - 7 JANUARY 2022
I would like to start by wishing you all a Happy New Year.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK
Seeing the prize winners from the Online Presentation Evening coming back into school to collect their prizes and take photographs with their trophies and awards. We wish all our former students well as they return to university or work this month.
TESTING
Thank you to all who have made sure that testing was carried out at home, helping to keep our school community as safe as possible, the on-site testing went well on Wednesday and added another layer of protection for us all. I would urge that you continue to test at home twice a week on a Wednesday and Sunday. Once we have more kits in school, we will make sure that they are distributed, so that they come home for students to use before coming on site. In addition to this we are asking all visitors to test before coming into school.
New guidance around taking PCR tests has been issued these are:
Under the new guidance, anyone in England who receives a positive lateral flow device (LFD) test result should report their result on gov.uk and must self-isolate immediately, but will not need to take a follow-up PCR test.
After reporting a positive LFD test result, they will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace so that their contacts can be traced.
Anyone who tests positive will be able to leave self-isolation seven days after the date of their initial positive test if they receive two negative lateral flow test results, 24 hours apart, on days six and seven. These changes come in on January 11.
If your son/daughter tests negative on day 6 & day 7 24hrs apart then you need to inform us they are able to return to school due to having negative tests. If they arrive in school without this communication we will have to send to them home.
NEWS ROUND-UP
2021 YEAR 13 CUP WINNERS
We were delighted to welcome our 2021 Year 13 Cup Winners into school on Wednesday to present them with their awards.
They were rightly proud of their achievements and enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with each other and share with us their new experiences of work and University.
We look forward to hearing about all their future successes over the coming years.
Well done to the class of 2021 for all their achievements, please do keep in touch through the alumni programme.
EPIPHANY
Students in Year 11 celebrated Epiphany in their French lesson with a traditional "Galette des Rois". Following the French tradition, the youngest student sat under the table and chose the order in which the others were served a slice of the galette. The student who found the "fève" in their slice became king (le roi) for the remainder of the day.
