Bank of England Policy Analyst Visits Sixth Form
Our Year 13 Economists were visited by Policy Analyst, Allen Wessen, this week.
Read Jason's report of the visit below:
Having a Bank of England representative from policy under the Prudential Regulatory Authority provided a truly insightful approach into the inner-workings of the bank. As well as speaking about the Bank of England he spoke about the operations of other international central banking organisations, specifically detailing aspects of Monetary Policy, including how and when its implementation is necessary, and the following effects it has upon the economy.
Discussions primarily revolved around A-Level concepts, though went into further detail from the bank's perspective, including its limitations, also allowing for a greater understanding of the bank as whole - rather than the sole monetary focus we have as part of our course.
One of the most important aspects of understanding Economics involves further exploration, and having a presentation from the Bank of England was a great opportunity for that!
Industry-specific insights are crucial to students as they help deepen their understanding of A Level subjects & widen their knowledge. Our thanks to Head of Business and Economics Miss Mittal for organising this wonderful guest speaker.
