During the summer break, seven students from Years 9-13 attended the Royal County of Berkshire Army Cadet Forces Annual Summer Camp at Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Strensall, York.

The students were spread across the county’s training levels and took part in a wide variety of activities such as climbing, shooting, archery, axe throwing, fieldcraft, drill, navigation, and military knowledge. The county was also joined by their counterparts from the Norwegian Home Guard who had come over to train as part of their exchange programme.

SPOTLIGHT ON HANNAH

TWITTER post 2024 09 11T114341.330

Hannah is currently studying A Levels in Charters Sixth Form and has a busy year ahead of her, which will involve applying to universities and the final examinations next summer, so it's wonderful that she makes time for outside interests to keep a healthy work/life balance. "During my time in the Army Cadet Force, I have travelled to Scotland, Northumbria and will be travelling to Norway next year as part of the Army Cadet Exchange Programme to name a few places. I have taken part in National sports, learnt to play 2 musical instruments, become qualified on 2 different weapons, and have taken part in adventurous training exercises such as canoeing, climbing, caving, abseiling, and biking."

When asked why she was interested in joining the Army Cadets Hannah said, "I joined the Army Cadet Force to learn many new skills and to have wider opportunities available to me both in the present and in the future. I hope to use my time in the Army Cadets to support my future aims of going to university and then commissioning into the Royal Navy as an Intelligence Officer."

We wish Hannah all the best for her future aspirations and will keep you updated on all the students' progress.
